ARTHUR HUGH CLOUGH [1819-1861]
Born on 1st January 1819 in Liverpool, he was the son of James Butler Clough and Anne Perfect.  He married Blanche Mary Shore Smith on 13th June 1854 in East Wellow, Romsey in Hampshire.  She was the daughter of Samuel Smith and Mary Shore.

He attended Rugby, and then Oriel College Oxford.  In 1849 he became head of University Hall, London.  In 1852 he lectured in Massachusetts. In 1859, he became a member of the sub-committee of The Nightingale Fund.

He died of malaria in Florence, and was buried at Florence protestant cemetery.

BLANCHE ATHENA CLOUGH [1861-]
The daughter of Arthur Hugh Clough and Blanche Mary Shore Smith.

Blanche was educated at Newnham College Cambridge, she was a Tutor there between 1896 to 1920.  Vice Principal 1917-1920 and Principle 1920-1923.  In 1919 she was a member of the Royal Commission on Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

She attended Florence Nightingale’s funeral in 1910, and was still single.
